Title: Crossing| Format: Digital Game | Tools: Unity, Maya, Photoshop | Date: Winter 2016

An interactive narrative that opens with the question “Which way should you go?”

While by many definitions not a work of “Interactive Fiction,” “Crossing” shares heritage with IF, along with being influenced by classic digital RPG’s. It offers a narrative that explores the experience of death from the perspective of those who still live. The story only asks that players move left or right, and click through text boxes that share the thoughts of the feline protagonist in third person. Players guide the cat through a lonely grayscale landscape towards a fixed outcome.

This work was showcased UCSC’s Winter Open Studio, and was awarded the 2016 UCSC Book Arts Award by Donna and Peter Thomas.
